Work Environment & Communication Style (NEW)
Team Size: The core team is 6 people. All communication happens primarily via Microsoft Teams chat and email. We schedule only one mandatory, structured meeting per week (60 minutes).
Core Work Style: This role involves high autonomy and deep, concentrated work (writing and editing). Deadlines are project-based, requiring strong organizational skills, but daily task flow is self-managed.
Sensory/Environment: The office environment is semi-open plan but quiet zones are available. The primary desk is near a window with natural light, located away from the main kitchen and high-traffic areas.
. Key Responsibilities
Draft, edit, and publish press releases, public statements, and social media content across all channels.
Manage the Council's media inquiries, acting as the primary point of contact for local journalists.
Develop and implement communications strategies for public consultations and major service announcements.
Ensure all published content adheres to corporate style guides and accessibility standards.
4. Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
Proven professional experience (2+ years) in a communications, PR, or marketing role.
Exceptional written communication and editing skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Demonstrable ability to manage multiple complex tasks and maintain organized workflows.
A relevant degree (or equivalent professional experience).
Desirable:
Experience using an editorial calendar or project management software (e.g., Trello or Asana).
Familiarity with local government structure or the West Yorkshire media landscape.
